DIY Paper Marbling

Good morning! I’ve done this DIY and I’m totally loving it.

It’s easy… and the result? AWESOME.

Materials:

  • shaving foam
  • food colouring
  • masking/washi tape (optional)
  • heavy weight paper
  • paper towel
  • tray
  • disposable knife (or spatula)
  • plastic ruler (tips: it’s better to use a longer ruler)
  • pointed stick (optional)
  • mahjong paper (or newspaper to protect the work surface )
1. Mask the work surface & the paper (on the side the marbling is not wanted). Or, you can actually marble both side of the paper.

2. Spray a layer of shaving foam into the tray.

3. Add few drops of food colouring then fold the foam until a desirable swirl pattern is obtained.

4. Place the paper onto the foam, gently press down so that it makes contact with the foam as much as possible.

5. Take out the paper, scrape off the extra shaving foam with the ruler.

6. Wipe off the traces of foam with paper towel.

7. Set the paper aside to dry. Once dried, place them under a stack of paper/book so that the paper stay flat.

8. Don’t just stop there, repeat the process until the colour turn muddy. You can add in more colours or more foam.

Warning: This DIY does cause a mess. Remember to mask your work surface!
